A skilled certified career coach can work effectively with all these clients because core coaching skills are universal, even as context and tools adapt.

CTA’s Career Coaching Certification Program

CTA’s Career Coaching Certification is structured as a specialization within the Certified Professional Coach (CPC) Level 1 program. The structure includes foundational ICF coach training, a career-coaching specialization module, mentor coaching hours, and hands-on practice. All components are ICF Level 1 Accredited and count directly toward your ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential application.

The program consists of 60 hours of ICF-accredited coach training, followed by a focused career coaching specialization module. Training is delivered in fast-track and weekend online sessions. A fast-track cohort is an intense, 6-day online live program. Weekend live online sessions generally last 4 hours each over two days. In addition to the live session, expect to spend 1 to 2 hours each week on practice activities, assignments, and self-study, for a total weekly commitment of about 4 to 5 hours. You also complete 10 hours of mentor coaching, scheduled flexibly in small group or one-on-one formats, which can be spread across the program to fit your schedule. After each segment, you apply concepts through practice sessions. Upon completion, you gain both core coaching skills and specialized career coaching expertise to serve diverse clients.

You must complete each program component, including 60 hours of core training, hands-on experience, mentor coaching, and a final evaluation, to receive CTA’s coaching certifications. The final evaluation includes a practical coaching assessment, where you demonstrate your skills in a real coaching session, and a brief written test to verify your understanding of core coaching concepts. This process is supportive and transparent, so you know exactly what to expect as you prepare for certification.
